                                           EXERCISE # 5.2

QUESTION # 1

Three families live together in a house . The daily use of milk of one family is 5.1/2 liters and the other  two families use 1.1/6 liters and 2.1/3 liters  respectively. How much milk would a milkman supply them ?

SOLUTION:

            use of milk of first family     =   5.1/2 liters

             use of milk of 2nd family     =  1.1/6 liters

              use of milk of  3rd family    =  2.1/3 liters

                Total use of milk                =  [ 5.1/2 + 1.1/6 + 2.1/3 ] liters

                                                            = 11/2 + 7/6 + 7/3

                                                             =  33 + 7 + 14 / 6

                                                              = 54 / 6 

                                                               = 9 liters 

     The answer is 9 liters milk.

  Hence , the milkman would supply 9 liters milk.
