Job Title 2023 Summer Student - Law Job Description What is the opportunity? RBC is Canada’s largest financial institution with approximately 80,000 employees worldwide. The Law Group provides legal services on a global basis to the RBC enterprise. Today, some 200 lawyers – backed by a professional staff of more than 150 in Canada, the United States, Caribbean, Europe and Hong Kong – help business and functional partners to seize opportunities, overcome challenges, manage legal risk and develop creative strategies to advance business objectives. The Law Group includes the Corporate Secretary's Department, Subsidiary Governance Office and Corporate Archive. The Toronto office of the RBC Law Group is looking for two full-time summer students (approximately May to August) for 2023. Note: Summer 2023 students will be expected to work in a hybrid work environment, with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home. What will you do? Students in the Law Group generally conduct legal research, engage in drafting and assist with the provision of legal advice with respect to: • Providing enterprise legal and regulatory counsel in support of all businesses, products and initiatives; managing disputes affecting the enterprise; and providing support to enterprise level activities, including Bank Act issues, enterprise compliance, M&A, corporate governance, IP and procurement support; and • Participating in the provision of Corporate Secretarial, Subsidiary Governance and Corporate Archival services. What do you need to succeed? Must-have • Applications will be accepted only from second-year law students (or from students who are in their second year of a joint JD/MBA program) • Available for approximately four months commencing May 2023 • Ability to work independently and take initiative • Personal ownership pertaining to your performance • Superb organizational, analytical and communication skills • Ability to work in a team What’s in it for you?
